Hi
The system is mandriva 2008 and the printer/sanner is Canon Pixma MP600
the printer part is ok, using Canon IP4200 driver, but the scanner part is
not working.
i've downloaded two rpms from canon asia web site
http://www.canon-asia.com/index.jsp?fuseaction=support&prod_type=bj_aio&country=SG
(scangearmp-common-1.00-1.i386.rpm and scangearmp-mp160-1.00-1.i386.rpm)
this two rpms install ok, but acording to the manual, they are for fedora
core or opensuse... and they should add the scanner to SANE to be used by
kooka, acording to this text here (in spanish)
http://alejandro-solano.blogspot.com/2007/07/configuracin-de-multifuncional-canon.html
anyway, i can see that the scanner is working cause the "commom" package
installs a program "scangearmp" from canon, but this program sucks, it
segfaults in 50% of it's buttons, specialy when trying to change gamma
correction or image-size.
i want to put kooka and xsane using this scanner.
the "commom" package installs this files:
/etc/udev/rules.d/80-canon_mfp.rules
/usr/lib/bjlib/canon_mfp.conf
/usr/lib/libcncpcmcm.so.6.50.1
/usr/lib/libcncpmsimg.so.1.0.0
/usr/lib/libcncpmslld.so.1.0.0
/usr/lib/libcncpmsui.so.1.0.0
/usr/lib/libsane-canon_mfp.a
/usr/lib/libsane-canon_mfp.la
/usr/lib/libsane-canon_mfp.so
/usr/lib/libsane-canon_mfp.so.1
/usr/lib/libsane-canon_mfp.so.1.0.0
/usr/bin/local/scangearmp
(and a few others there don't seem to be important, pixmaps, txt's and so
on)
the "mp600" package installs:
/usr/lib/bjlib/cnc600.dat
/usr/lib/bjlib/cnc_2950.tbl
now:
--i've copied all 9 files from /usr/lib to /usr/lib/sane, respected what are
files and what are simlinks (looks like this is were they sould be in
mandriva)
--i've copied canon_mfp.conf to /etc/sane.d/ and add it's name
in /etc/sane.d/dll.conf
i don't know were to put files cnc600.dat and cnc_2950.tbl
sane-find-scanner lists the scanner correctly but
scanimage says no device found, even given these comands as root.
i can't stop thinking this could be just a udev problem...
a scanner like this should create what /dev ??
can anybody help?
thanks
